NativeScript is a cross-platform app development framework for rapid app development with its write once and run anywhere model for designing native apps. It uses JavaScript, XML and CSS and the NativeScript APIs are translated into native platform APIs at runtime.
It can also be used with latest Swift or Java technologies using Typescript or AngularJS. We discuss top 3 factors that make NativeScript the ideal framework for cross-platform app development.
NativeScript uses JavaScript for building mobile applications saving cost and time for developers. The platform uses pure JavaScript language to build native applications for major mobile platforms including Apple’s iOS, Google’s Android, and Windows Universal.
The full native API access is provided by using JavaScript while the application’s UI stack is built on the native platform. Thus, the user experience in uncompromised. With the release of iOS Swift, Apple is also seen to be migrating towards JavaScript framework for app development.
Of course, Apple is also aiming towards making Swift a cross-platform development platform, but NativeScript developers benefit from the new move.
The preview version of NativeScript that was launched in mid-2014, supported Android and iOS, with version 2.0, the support extended to Windows Phone as well.
The support started from iOS version 7.0 and Android 4.2 onwards, with live sync support. With version 0.2, came Native Emulators support inside AppBuilder and addition to Base Libraries.

With the version 0.3, third party library components could also be accessed, and an initial set of UI libraries JavaScript were added. With version 0.4, UI layer libraries in JavaScript were added and the platform became a truly open source.
With version 1.0, MVC application pattern was implemented. Now, the current version 2.0, desktop support has been added for Microsoft Windows Universal and Apple OS X. some more notable new improvements include, tight Angular integration, support for 3rd party native libraries in Android and iOS, richer CSS support and TypeScript support.
Though it is still in its Beta version, Angular 2 has been integrated with NativeScript so that developers can now have access to a shared code base between their native iOS or Android app and the web app.
The new version of NativeScript is being adopted with enthusiasm by companies who are aiming at delivering uniform user experience across web and mobile platforms.
The way forward for NativeScript 2.0 is that it is extending support further for Windows and there will be more work on multi-threading. We can look forward to more exciting happenings in hybrid app development in store for development companies.
Solution Analysts offers a host of mobile app development services on the NativeScript framework and we are currently working on the web and mobile app user experience integration with the NativeScript 2.0 version.
